American high school students growing up on an air force base in the south pacific during the last months of the Vietnam war valiantly struggle for a normal life as earthquakes, typhoons, the return of the POWs, Operation Babylift, a tragic air transport crash and a volcano eruption gives them a gut wrenching year to remember.
